Employers in Japan Have New Obligations to Child and Family Caregivers

Child and family caregivers in Japan may work shorter hours and be exempt from overtime work under the revised Child Care and Family Care Leave Law that took effect June 30, 2010. The law also enhances leave for caregivers to attend to a sick or injured child, encourages fathers to take child care leave, and establishes short-term family care leave.
