SHRM India University Alliances
SHRM India is a part of the world’s largest professional Human Resource association, SHRM – the Society for Human Resource Management, with over 260,000 members in 140 countries. A not-for-profit association founded in 1948, SHRM provides the most current and comprehensive knowledge resources and promotes the increasingly important strategic role of HR in today’s corporate scenario. SHRM plays a key role in HR thought leadership, HR education and research, and partners with businesses to optimize HR capabilities and enable the development of HR professionals.
HR Integrated Learning with SHRM India
The SHRM India University Alliances Initiative has been developed to primarily focus on and help both:
- Students, so that they can become deployable resources from their first day at work, and
- HR professionals, so that they can hire dependable and employer ready resources.
This Initiative is SHRM India’s effort to set the agenda for the future of HR Integrated education, based on a multi-year, multi-method research study to define the minimum standards for HR Integrated education at the graduate level. SHRM India’s approach to making our students "Day One Productive" resources for the industry is to have the Industry itself Train, Mentor and Guide the students. HR and SHRM India Subject Matter Experts from the industry will deliver, mentor and monitor the students. Hence, institutes and students can get the much needed industry interface. Based on results derived from and identified using multiple quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, SHRM devised the SHRM HR Integrated Program, which has been endorsed by the top 200 companies across the world in 2005. The program has since been revalidated in 2008, 2010 and 2011. SHRM’s credentials also include the establishment of an important alliance with AACSB International, the accrediting body for Business Schools in the US. Over 165 programs worldwide now align with SHRM guidelines. The SHRM India University Alliance Initiative has two specific programs based on the domain expertise of the students:
- The Business School Program, which includes MBA, BBA and B.Com students across all domains – HR, Marketing and Finance This program focuses on core competencies and provides complete insight into “People Management,” from the ab initio stage of when a student begins his or her career to the subsequent progression to becoming a Manager and Leader.
